Chvrches, one of the biggest hype bands from SXSW, played a small show at 285 Kent in Brooklyn on Tuesday night after two back to back sold out shows at Webster Hall the night before. It was originally slated as a DJ set, but the group decided the day of to turn it into a live performance (which I was happy about!).
Chvrches gave a great performance for such a young band. While they only have two songs that really stand out, those are certainly enough to promise greatness on their upcoming album.
“This is a cool venue, it’s kind of like that warehouse in the show Girls where they go to the party Brooklyn”
The only thing that hinted at their young band age was the apparent tiredness. It seemed like you could see it in the lead singers face that she just wanted to go to sleep. This didn’t take away from the show however, they brought the energy during the set. The lead singer even declared (imagine in Scottish accent), “This is a cool venue, it’s kind of like that warehouse in the show Girls where they go to the party in Brooklyn.” IT ALL COMES BACK TO HBO’S GIRLS, GIRLS YOU HAVE RUINED BROOKLYN FOR THE WORLD.
